BMW Clubs Europa e.V. / BMW Clubs International Council Introduction BMW Clubs Europa e.V. is one of two official recognized umbrella organizations for the BMW Clubs in Europe and is member of the BMW Clubs International Council - the umbrella organization of the worldwide operating BMW Clubs. The BMW clubs are in close connection to the BMW AG, their subsidiaries and their trading companies. The BMW clubs are representing the brand and make known BMW to the public with their activities. Once upon a time The history of BMW clubs started in the year 1928 when a few bikers founded the BMW Club Düsseldorf, Germany. The head of the club, Friedhelm Günther († 2003) was president of BMW Clubs Europa for many years and later also chairman of BMW Clubs International Council. With hard work during decades, the BMW clubs became a strong community in Northern America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Asia and Europe. This union of friends of BMW reaches the whole world from BMW Club Japan until the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America. Today, the BMW Clubs International Council counts more than 230.00 members and it is the largest network of clubs representing a brand of a car and motorcycle. BMW Clubs International Council – the worldwide umbrella organization This Council was founded in 1981 in order to give international clear defined general conditions for the public appearance and activities of the clubs. The responsible people in the Council asked themselves: "How to make happy over than 200.000 BMW enthusiasts with all their different needs and wishes?" The answer was clear: general conditions without restricting too much the freedom and independence of the clubs. Summary of the rules: all BMW clubs are managed as a democratic, apolitical and non-profit community. The several touristy, sportive and social activities of the clubs shall contribute to the positive image of BMW. Club members are supporting the white-blue brand. One passion – one community Currently, more than 200.000 BMW enthusiasts worldwide are organized in official BMW clubs. The BMW clubs in Northern America are with one car and two motorcycle umbrella association and with approx. 115.000 members the largest BMW association in the world. The BMW Clubs Europa was founded more than 50 years ago and counts approx. 20.000 members in over 200 clubs in nearly all countries of the world. Other important BMW Club organizations are located in Africa, Asia, Dubai, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. BMW Clubs are growing also in China, Eastern Asia, Eastern Europe and South America. In all these numerous BMW clubs, members meet for common activities. They exchange ideas and experience about BMW, letting arise international friendships around the world. Wherever you are driving, you can be sure that a BMW club already exists. Each new club joining the international organization is another brick in the wall of a constant growing building.
